I granted Audio Recording but nothing happens

Quit and relaunch WaveBG once after granting the permission. macOS sometimes requires apps to be restarted to pick up newly granted Audio Recording access. The menu bar icon should turn active and you'll see motion when audio plays.

If WaveBG isn't shown in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Audio Recording at all, open the WaveBG onboarding (Settings → General → Replay Onboarding) and click Grant Permission — that's what registers WaveBG with macOS so the toggle appears.

I see the menu bar icon but no wallpaper

WaveBG sits between your desktop picture and your icons — if your desktop is hidden by an opaque window covering all screens, you won't see it. Try Mission Control or moving an app away to confirm.

On macOS, fullscreen apps create their own Space; WaveBG's window doesn't appear there by design. Exit fullscreen on the app in front to see WaveBG again.

WaveBG isn't reacting to my audio

Check that audio is actually playing (Music app, Safari tab, etc.) — WaveBG visualizes whatever audio your Mac is outputting. If output is muted or your output device is paused, the visualization will be silent. If you've turned the silence threshold up high in Settings → Audio, try lowering it.

It's using too much energy / battery

Open Settings → General and:

• Lower the frame rate to 30 fps.
• Confirm "Pause on Low Power Mode" is on.
• Confirm "Pause when display sleeps" is on.

If Activity Monitor still reports more than "Low" energy impact during steady music playback, please email us with your Mac model — that's a bug.

The wallpaper flickers on multiple displays

WaveBG re-creates its windows when display arrangement changes (hot-plug, Stage Manager toggle, resolution change). A brief flicker is expected; persistent flickering is not. Email us with your monitor setup if it persists.

I want a refund

If you bought WaveBG through the Mac App Store, use Apple's refund flow: reportaproblem.apple.com. For direct purchases, email us and we'll process it through the payment processor, no questions, within 30 days.
